CPR & First Aid

Jason and I took another step in preparation for our adoption application...by taking the required CPR & First Aid certification classes yesterday. As a physical therapist, I'm always required to take CPR....so it wasn't such a big deal. I'm glad Jason took a refresher course, so I'm somewhat relieved that if I ever faint again, that he won't need to resort to using a bucket of water to wake me up. Anyway... the First Aid portion of the class was interesting...and it made me realize that I will be relying heaviliy upon you moms out there in the future if I panic. It talked about how children can stick things up their noses by accident (other than their own fingers) like coins and pet kibble. What to do with bug bites and burns, falls, head trauma, poisonous plants etc etc. It was very informative and I'm glad it's a requirement in the adoptive process. I am impressed with all of those who are juggling more than 1 small child...I hope you realize you have super-powers that I cannot wait to comprehend. I remember going out shopping once with my sister-n-law several years ago when my niece was a baby and my nephew was 3 I think. I marveled at the way she was able to hold one baby in one arm while navigating a massive (well to me it was gigantic) double stroller containing my nephew and pushing him in & between clothes racks, without bumping into things. Quite a talent to have such agility, coordination and strength. I am convinced that any moms who have an infant can definitely win an arm wrestling match against their husbands if they wanted to.
Anyway...we just have our physicals to get done before we turn in our adoption application to the County in the next couple of weeks.

Enjoyed reading all about the new skills you've both acquired in the area of "nursing". Good to know that when we have family gatherings we have not only a doctor in the house (Dr. Mike), but other trained medical personnel.:) You will learn to juggle children, one at a time. It's a good thing they don't all come at once as we get to practice on that first child, then it gets easier with each subsequent sibling/child. Poor Rob..he was our practice child, but hey, he turned out great, so we must have done the right things! And, by the time we got to Jason, lo, "perfection"! xoxoxoxxo
